Everything is bigger in Texas, especially Carlos Palomo’s determination to help his customers. “Banking Texas Style means the bank takes a bigger initiative in customer satisfaction and community service,” he said. “The customers motivate me to go the extra mile. The appreciation they show and smiles on their faces when we are able to help make it all worth it.”
Palomo has been with CBTx for nine years. He began his career as a part-time teller and worked his way up to branch manager of the Banking Center at Stephen F. Austin State University, then credit analyst. He now serves as AVP/Loan Officer at the Emory Banking Center.
A native of Lufkin, he earned his bachelor’s in finance and his MBA from SFA. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus at the Catholic Church in Emory.
Palomo and his wife have a dog named Missy. He enjoys playing sports in his spare time.
What was the first job you ever had? I sacked groceries at the local Brookshire’s when I was 16.
Who would you consider to be your hero? My mom because of all the sacrifices she made to give me all the things she didn’t have and for pushing me to make the most out of the opportunities I have been blessed with.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a professional baseball player.
